Welcome to ART!

Mrs. Rickard

Thank you for visiting the Art Page.  My name is Mrs. Rickard, otherwise known as Mrs. R.  I am in my third year of teaching at Harrison.  I have been teaching K-12 students in some capacity since 2000.  I have always loved creating.  I naturally excelled at art as a child and in high school I knew that my path forward would be in art.  I graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1995 with my BFA.  In 1998 I graduated with my MFA from UMASS Dartmouth.  My husband and I are both Nebraska natives, so after some educationally motivated moves, we came back to our home state in 1999.  We are both teachers in Omaha Public Schools and have two children that attend Central High.

Weekly Lesson for May 11th:  Primary lesson is for K-2.  Intermediate lesson is for grades 3-6

Check out some Art Links below the intermediate lesson.  These are for all ages.  Enjoy!

This will be the last week of lessons posted this school year.  Thank you for checking them out and a special thanks to those of you who shared your projects with me.  I love to see them!  I wish you all have a safe, happy summer.  See you in the fall (or maybe at the pool!).

Primary Lesson:

Draw and paint flowers. If you do not have a sharpie, use a black crayon or dark colored colored pencil.  If you don't have water colors, continue with crayon, or ask your parents to help mix a little homemade water color paint with food coloring and water!  No brush?  How about a Q-tip!

Intermediate Lesson:

Make a figurative sculpture out of tinfoil.  Check out the links below on a figurative sculptor and another on how to make you creation!
